I've had the joy to meet Kelly a few years ago when we both were studying at Daytona State College. Kelly was on the dance team and I was studying photography. She modeled for me on a few photography class assignments and I will forever be grateful for Kelly's ballet skills (hehe!). Now Kelly is engaged to law-student, Erik and they make a great couple!! Their blind date turned into the best decision they've ever made and it brought them to where they are now. Read on to hear from Kelly how Erik proposed!!... "Erik and I met through a blind date in college at USF! I needed a date for an event and a very close friend of mine set us up. It took us a little time to get on the same page, 1 year to be exact, we officially started dating! We became each other’s best friends touring breweries together, got way too into football games, hockey games, and binging Game of Thrones. Life quickly changed when we moved our lives up to UF and Erik started law school! Fast forward to the end of his first year of law school we are FINALLY going into summer. We had planned a summer vacation in 2016 to Marshfield, Massachusetts to visit Eriks family! Erik had been mentioning to me that we should take a 'night a go out on' what we call a “fancy night”, which is just our way of saying date night 😂. I had agreed but really thought nothing of it. We decided July 7th to go to New Hampshire for the day and do a brewery tour. The tour was really fun, however it was 3 hours away from the beach Erik was proposing at that same night! We drove through Boston rush hour, got back to his uncle's house and all I wanted to do was pass out! I was exhausted from driving all day! Erik was insistent that we HAD to go on a date night, and that I needed to get a changed into a nice dress. So of course I threw a fit, went and changed and we went to “dinner”. During dinner Erik was trying to convince me we should go walk on the beach after dinner. After not even wanting to go to dinner, I was NOT interested in going to the beach when we had 5 more days of vacation! So after much persuading I finally agreed and we went to the beach. Summer in Massachusetts can actually be chilly so after about 3 minutes of walking, I was ready to leave. I was begging to go home, and Erik felt me shivering. So after a lot of complaining, Erik said to me , “Well I know you’re cold, we should probably head home. But I have one question for you before we leave....” Erik dropped down to one knee and said “Kelly Theresa Chaffman, will you marry me?” All I could say was “are you serious?! Are you joking?! You’re kidding!” Needless to say best forced date night of my life! All of our families were in on it, and we celebrated with champagne, FaceTimes and phone calls to all our love ones! I can’t wait to marry Erik, he really is the love of my life and my best friend."-Kelly Congratulations to Erik & Kelly!!
