Choosing where you will be getting dressed on your big day is just as important as the rest of your wedding details. As a photographer all the visual elements matter when I document your memories. I've narrowed down 3 key factors to consider when choosing where to get dressed...to soon become Mr. or Mrs!
It would be ideal to capture your memories if not all, mostly all natural light. I know, this is a pretty heavy request. The main element to creating light & airy photography is a large and soft light source. Whether that's inside a hotel, your house, your grandma's cottage or your venue...natural light from a big window is super important. Just remember to shut off the nasty orange ambient lights and let the pure natural light filter through. :)
Size of the space
On the big day you will have so many bags and miscellaneous things where you are getting ready, plus your bridal party's belongings AND your beauty team's table (unless you are doing beauty elsewhere). Leave one corner of the room tidy and clean for you to get dressed. It will make your photos visually stunning without all the clutter in the way. You won't need a huge room to get dressed in but a clean corner is perfect and some wiggle room for me to move around for different angles. Getting ready on your wedding day is an emotional time for you and your loved ones. I mean, you're marrying your BEST FRIEND/LOVE OF YOUR LIFE. So where you decide to get ready will matter.
Eliminate the stress of rushing from one location to another by getting ready at your ceremony location. Closer you are to your venue the easier it is on your timeline. More travel time=less picture time. Not all venues have getting ready room accommodations though so remember to ask your venue. If you can't get dressed at your venue or it's not a pretty room for photos have a back up plan. Consider getting ready at a nearby hotel or we can photograph some of your finishing touches outside of your venue with natural light.
With those factors in mind I hope this helps guide you on what to look out for when choosing a getting ready location for breathtaking memories!
Happy Wedding Planning!
